“Music for Orphans” is an organization made by Cassidy Mikkelsen, former Miss Nebraska National Teen 2011 and Miss National Sweetheart 2013. It is an organization that donates instruments to orphanages all around the world for the children to play with and helps with healing their soul. Cassidy Mikkelsen believes that “Music Heals the Soul”. She once experienced a trauma of depression while in school, and tried to find something else that would heal her besides medicine. She tried multiple things but the one thing that helped her the most was playing the piano and guitar. Everytime Cassidy would become depressed she would just play the piano or pick up her guitar and play, this has worked for her for about six years now. She wanted to share her experience to others to maybe help them, but then she decided that she wanted to make an organization for orphans, to help heal their soul through music. So what do I do to help? YOU can donate an instrument to these children and write a note to them about how much this instrument did for you, and Cassidy will then send you a letter or email to which orphanage your instrument went to. High school graduates that put their instrument under their bed after they graduate, they can donate it for a great cause! With all of your help we can make a difference in the childrens’ lives!
